Happy Birthday Ben!

Today my baby boy is 7 years old. I can hardly believe it. It seems just like yesterday he was born. He was the sweetest most beautiful blonde hair, blue eyed baby I had ever laid eyes on. Everything about him was different than both of his brothers. He was an easy baby and still is to this day. He is a home body and would rather stay at home than do anything else! He is a smart little sucker and will say anything that comes to mind. Most of the time he will have on the floor laughing! One thing about Ben, is he loves me and when ever he is away from me for any length of time he is always happy to see me! I always get hugs from him and his smile can melt my heart!! I will always remember nights with him when he was a baby. At home at night by myself with 3 babies, I would always get Will and Drew in bed and then Ben and I would sit on the couch in the den, I would give him his night time bottle while I watched my shows that I had on tivo. He would fall asleep and I would just lay there an hold him. Most nights I dreaded putting him to bed because this was the only time I really had with just him! My 1 and 2 year old demanded most all of my time during the day. Ben lived in the swing, the swing was a life saver! I am so proud of him. He has surprised me in so many ways and I know he is going to grow into a fine young man!! I love you Boo Boo! Happy Birthday!!

Winding Down the Summer

Well, since our baseball season ended we have really been enjoying the rest of our summer. We haven't really done anything special, just enjoying each other. Yes, I said it, we are enjoying each other. After we finished baseball, the Recreation Department called to see if we would be interested in being a Host Family for the AAA Dixie Minor Tournament. After talking it over with Jason we decided we would give it a try. We decided since we were going to be out there anyway watching Lawson and Noah and their team, Troy Americans ~ The Host Team, we might as well do it. I thought it would be a neat experience for the boys to be on the other side of a baseball tournament. We found out last week that our Host Team would be the District 4 Champs from Monroe County. I was really excited since I do have friends that grew up in Monroeville and have a close friend there now. We meet them at their hotel on Friday afternoon. We delivered each player and coach a drawstring backpack with lots of goodies in them. We had made some signs for them and got some balloons to put up when they got there to welcome them to Troy. That didn't go over so well. We couldn't get the signs in the ground and they got there when we were doing it, some of the balloons popped and I just gave up and let those go! Kate was really upset, she wanted the balloons! Anyway, we got everything to them and left them to get settled and met back up with them Friday night at the Homerun Derby. We were able to meet more of the parents and found out what a small world it is. We have so many friends and family in common so it made us feel like we already knew one another. The rain delayed the Homerun Derby so we went with the team to the Rec Center for dinner. It was catered by Country's BBQ and it was delicious! During dinner the rain moved out so we were able to go back to the field for the Opening Ceremonies. Each team was introduced and after several people spoke the night was topped of with a fireworks show. It was really nice. Really a little depressing after the experience we had at State last year. Troy definately know how to host a tournament.
Games began Saturday, Monroe played at 4 and lost its 1st game to Underwood. They were really nervous, but they played a Great game. Sunday they played Geneva, the district champs from our district. Geneva dominated our District tournament here in Troy so I was a little nervous for Monroe. The score stayed 0-0 until the 5th inning I think. Geneva scored 2 runs in the top of the inning. Monroe came back to the bats and couldn't get the cracking. They held Geneva in the top of the 6th and then came in and scored 3 runs to win the game. It was so exciting!! Those boys never gave up and they play with such heart! I can't wait to watch them play tonight. They play Bellingrath tonight in an elimination game. I think Monroe has gotten the nervous butterflies out of their system and will play great tonight!!
Our Troy Americans won their 1st game against Hartselle Saturday but fell to Auburn yesterday. They will play Underwood in an elimination game today. We will be cheering hard for Troy and Monroe!

Last week the boys participated in Golf Camp at Camp Butter and Egg. They totally enjoyed every minute of it. They always to the baseball camp and are doing it this week. They have brand new golf clubs and always want to play so I talked them into it! They spent the night out their last Thursday so they were so exhausted when I got them on Friday.

Tournament Ball Comes to an End

Tonight Will's team, the Troy Nationals, was eliminated from the District Tournament. They played well defensively but just couldn't get their bats going. We had a great time being with old friends and it was great to make some new friends. Will had a great time and I know he is sad it is over so hopefully we can get back to travel ball at the end of the summer!

Happy Birthday Mom!

Happy Birthday Mama, aka Bibbie! For 38 years she has not only been a mother but she has also been my best friend and still is until this day. She by far is the best mother ever. When I was little she worked very hard to make sure I had everything I wanted. She always took me and my friends to the beach and we always had the best time. She is the best cook and always had a warm meal for us at supper even thought she was working. She was always there for me when I needed a shoulder to cry on or if I needed advice for some major teenage problem! Even to this day I get her advice and most all the time she is right! I know I will never measure up to her but I will sure try since I have no excuse not too! She taught me everything, I just can't cook as good as her! Happy Birthday to the BEST Mama and Bibbie in the whole world. I love you more than words can tell. Thank you for EVERYTHING you do for my family. We greatly appreciate it!

Dixie Youth AAA District Tournament

Tournament play started for Will's team the Troy Nationals today. The tournament actually started yesterday but since we are the host team we received the bye and didn't have to play until tonight. We started off really well against Enterprise Americans and were winning 1-0 until the 4 inning and then we lost our grip and they scored 4 runs and we couldn't hit the ball. Will played 1st base and did an absolute great job. Monday we will face the Enterprise Nationals in hopes to keep playing. I will post photos later.

These are the 9 year olds on the team. They all played together last year and they stillplay travel ball together! They are a great bunch of boys!

Tristen, Will and Cody

3 players were chosen from the Astros, Will, Juhmir and Brock. They all had a great tournament.

Happy "early" Birthday Mom!

July 11 is my mother's birthday and her dear friend Gail threw her a surprise birthday party tonight! Mom was so very surprised! I am so glad I was there to see it. All of her closest friends were there to help her celebrate. Mrs. Gail's son, Chris, is a chef and he came in from Atlanta to prepare most all the food. It was absolutely delicious! We had a great time!

Coach Pitch Tournament comes to an end...

The Troy Americans of the Farm League fought hard to earn their position of 2nd place in the 2010 Tournament. After the first night when the Troy Nationals beat us I figured one more game and we were done, but instead our boys weren't ready to be done. Saturday we sent home Greenville, Sunday we had a day off but that didn't stop our momentum. Monday we sent Eufaula American packing and then it was time for Crenshaw County to go home. Last night we came on strong beating Eufaula National 13-6. Tonight we faced off against the undefeated team Enterprise National. We lost 14-3. But hey, 2nd place ain't bad!! I am so proud of Ben and the rest of his team. All of them are such great players and most of them are still 6! Ben didn't hit the ball as well as he can but his defense playing totally made up for it. He is is a great 2nd baseman and I am looking forward to watching he play for many many years to come.

Ben had another awesome catch!!
