Drew gets his 1st deer!!!

Today Drew finally got to shoot his 1st deer!! Jason took vacation this week and was determined that Drew was going to shoot his 1st deer this season. A year ago Will got his 1st deer so it was Drew's turn this year! Today, Jason checked Drew out of school and they headed to the farm. We have upteenmillion deer houses and they all have names. Today Jason took Drew to the Big Stand. They sat and waited, did homework and Drew said right when he finished his homework the deer walked out. They watched and then he shot 3 times. He missed the 1st time, the deer stood still, 2nd shot went right through his ear, the deer still didn't move then shot 3...right in the neck and the deer fell to the ground! I think Jason was more excited than Drew was! I am so excited for Drew! He has been talking about killing a deer all year! The deer was small with 4 points, I think, but that is perfect for Drew because he is small too! He even got to watch his daddy skin it. The nearest deer processor was half way to Luverne and from the farm that is about an hour drive. Bad thing is the deer had been in a fight and has a horrible infection on his head. We won't get to mount it but we will save the skull and horns and do something with that! Even after Drew's week started off a little bad it has ended just perfectly! Only 2 more days of deer season and our life can get back to normal! Also, today is Deeda's birthday (my dad) this post for today should have been wishing him a Happy Birthday but it gets pushed back to celebrate Drew's 1st deer! I guess this is a great present for Deeda though! We love you Deeda so Happy Birthday!! Way to go Drew...We are proud of you!!!

Congratulations Lacey!!

After 11 years Lacey decided she wanted to be in a beauty pageant. I love to watch pageants. But never have I ever wanted to be in one. My mother made me be in the Junior Miss and I hated every minute of it. My sister-in-law Amy has been in plenty of them, she won some and lost some and those that she didn't win I left so angry because I could not see how the judges could not see how beautiful she was. I also knew her inside beauty and if the judges saw her inner beauty, Amy would have won every crown!! Once Amy's pageants stop I began to watch my dear friend Tracie's little girl Hannah. Once again, I leave angry when she doesn't win. Same reasons I got mad when Amy didn't win. So this brings me back to Lacey. She has never wanted to do pageants and that made me so glad. Of course she is beautiful and I didn't need any reassurance of it! Then her mother tells me that Lacey is going to be in the CHMS beauty walk and my heart sank. I didn't want Lacey to have to go through that stuff. She was excited though! So tonight was the night, Her very 1st beauty pageant and she won the title of 6th Grade Beauty! I am so proud. When she first came on stage, with the whole group, I did not recognise her. OMG, she was the most beautiful thing I had ever put my eyes on. She didn't look like my sweet little 11 year old niece. I could not believe it. I guess I am in denial that she is growing up! Here are the pictures so you can see for yourself! Did I tell you I am so proud? I just hope she doesn't get the pageant bug now! But she probably will, and I will be there to cheer her on!!

Thank God for the invention of iPhones! The boys would not have made it through the pageant without them!!

We made it through 100 days of school!!

I can hardly believe we have already made it through 100 days of school! Only 80 more until summer!! Ben had to make a poster with 100 items on it so we made an ocean with 80 fish in the sea and 20 shells and crabs on the beach! He was so proud!

Drew had to take 100 items he could count and he took 100 animal beads. They had to put them in groups of 10, his partner was Joel. Will didn't do anything that much, by the time you are in 2nd grade it is not a big deal that you can count to 100!! It was a fun day for all!!

Fun at the Farm

December 30th Jason took the boys to the farm to spend the night. Ben did not want to go. You know he loves staying at home but Jason is determined to make a country boy out of him. Once he got there I think he had a blast! Kevin and his girls came up during the day to cut some wood for his next hog cooking. The boys had a great time playing with the girls! I sent my old camera with Jason to take pictures and he actually took some good ones!

On Sunday we all went up to the farm. It was such a nice day we didn't want to spend it inside. This was really Kate's 1st trip up there were we actually got out of the car. I found some of Ben's old camo pants and pulled out her orange shirt. She has nothing in her closet for going to play at the farm. I think she looked really cute! She had a good time, she wasn't crazy about riding the mule, her daddy drove too slow. She was all over the place on it. When he finally started going fast she started to enjoy it. Ben got a small 22 for Christmas from Deeda so we all shot it. Yes, I shot the gun and did hit close to bulls eye!! It was fun! I really do love going up there. It is so nice but it is also good to come home!!

Well we head back to school tomorrow. They boys have all pretty much gotten up by 6:30 for 2 weeks so I know tomorrow they will not be wanting to get out of the bed. Hope you all have a great and safe 2009!
