Coach Pitch Tourney Game 3 & 4

We are still alive!! We beat Eufaula Americans last night 4-3 in extra innings. It was a tough one! Ben played another awesome game!! My camera died so I don't have any pictures of the game.

Tonight we played Crenshaw County and beat them 14-5. Our bats were cracking and our gloves were on fire!! Ben caught an awesome pop up that he had to jump for! He had to look in his glove to be sure it was there! And guess what, I got the picture!! We play again tomorrow night against the Eufaula Nationals.

Mary Hollis turns 1

Our niece Mary Hollis turned 1 on Friday and we celebrated yesterday with family and friends. She had the cutest candy themed party and the kids swam and the babies splashed around in the baby pools. She loved playing in her cake and she loved the way it tasted. Sweet baby girl had so much fun playing in the pool but she was worn out! I can hardly believe she is already 1. I know everybody says this but it really does seem like yesterday when she was born. See here. I can't believe how fast time is passing us by. She and Kate love to play with each other and I am so glad they will have each other so they won't have to always depend on the boys for entertainment!! Happy Birthday Baby Girl...We love you!!

Coach Pitch Tourney - Game 2

Tonight the Troy Americans went into action against the Greenville All-stars. Again, we were the visiting team and tonight it worked out a lot better for us! Our bats were alive tonight as our team scored 7 runs in the top of the first to end the 1st half of the inning sending us out in the field and Greenville behind the plate. Ben got a great hit and scored a run. We made 3 outs and held them at 0. Back to bat came the Americans. Again, our bats were on fire. We scored another 7 to end the first half on the 2nd inning. Greenville scored 1 run in the 2nd and wouldn't score again. The Troy Americans won the game 18-1! We have Sunday off and meet up with Eufaula Americans on Monday night! Ben had another awesome game playing 2nd base. I just love watching him play. He plays seriously but is having fun the entire time he is doing it! Stay tuned...

This is Ben scoring!!

Here is a video of one of Ben's awesome plays at 2nd base. Pay close attention, the very beginning of the video is Ben diving for the ball, he catches it and throws it to his 1st cousin Walker who plays 1st base (you can't see him for the ump in the way) and then keep watching as they celebrate after seeing the ump call the runner out!

Coach Pitch Tournament

Tonight kicked off the first round in the Farm League Coach Pitch tournament. The luck of the draw put Ben's team, Troy American, playing the other Troy team, Troy National. The way the bracket was drawn, Troy National was the home team. We were delayed for an hour due to lightening in the area. During one of the delays, the boys were introduced on TV! They thought that was big time!! Finally we got to get on the field. We opened up and our bats were cracking. We scored 3 runs in the 1st inning and held the Nationals at 0. Everything went down hill from there. We quit hitting and made several errors. Ben played a great defensive game but only got up to bat once and he struck out. We lost the game 14-3. That loss sent us to the loser bracket where we will play Greenville tomorrow.

Tournament Ball Begins

Regular season is over and tournament season has begun! This time a year I get so torn. I love going to the beach and miss it when I can't go but I also love tournament baseball. Last year was Will's 2nd year to play and I met so many new friends and this year 6 of our team from last year make the 10 and under team this year! So we kind of just picked up where we left off. As much fun as we have together though, it just isn't the same without the mom's whose son's made the other team. I hope when we are through playing that we get our original team back together to play.
This year was Will's 1st year in the Dixie Youth Minor League. He had a good year and was fortunate to earn a spot on the 10-under tournament team. It is a very big honor since there is a 9 yr old team. They had a warm up tournament in Enterprise this past weekend and they lost their 1st game but won their 2nd. Will played catcher in the 2nd game and threw someone out at 2nd!! The fasted runner on the other team!! Yay Will!!

Ben had his first year in Coach Pitch this year and he was very fortunate to earn a spot on the Tournament Team too!. It is a very big deal since in the 2 years past they have only chosen 2nd year players!! Ben is such an aggressive player. I know, who would have thought. He can hit the ball and he knows what to do in the outfield. He made several good plays in his warm up tournament last weekend too! His tournament starts this weekend! His trick for being so good...chocolate ice cream!! I guess it is our superstition! On the last game of the year this year we were running late and he was hungry. I didn't have time to fix breakfast so he fixed himself a bowl of chocolate ice cream! He was on fire!! He had his best game of the year. Friday night he spent the night with Elizabeth since we had to be in Enterprise at 8 on Saturday morning for Will's first game. Ben played in Luverne! Elizabeth fed him chocolate ice cream for breakfast and again he was on fire!! So, Friday night, he will have chocolate ice cream for supper!!
Hope you all are having a wonderful summer!

Will playing 1st
