Opening Day of Baseball

Today marked the beginning of our 7th year, 6th year and 4th year of recreation baseball. I think we will have an easier year this year since Will and Drew are on the same team! Will is playing in his 2nd year of Dixie Minor, kid pitch, and Drew's 1st! It is a big adjustment. Will started off the game pitching and did a great job. When he was up to bat he got hit on the knuckle with the ball and it knock the hide off of it. He couldn't pitch anymore so he went to catcher. He did good at that too. Drew played left field and did a good job getting the balls in that game in his direction. He has a great arm on him for being as little as he is. Will struck out his 1st at bat and got a hit his 2nd at bat. Drew struck out both times but I think he was a little nervous. The thought of a 10 year old throwing a ball at you would make me nervous too! We play our next game on Tuesday and it should be a good game!
Ben is in his 2 year of coach pitch. He plays the pitching position. He is such a good player. He plays 100% all the time. He was up to bat 3 times, hit 2 scored 2 and struck out 1. One time he slid into home head first. I didn't get a picture but our friend Candace did! Her son plays on our team so she can get the good shots! I will get a copy of it to post later!
One thing our Rec Dept did differently this year was not have an opening night ceremonies. It was not night not to have to sit through all that this year. The only down fall was we didn't get our annual pictures of all the boys and their friends. All in all, today was a great day for baseball!!
